Bust Stops Bus Stops This series of photographs was taken during three different trips through rural parts of Moravia and Northern & Central Bohemia in the Czech Republic. For me these bus stops represent the post-communist heritage. They say a lot about the attitude that the regime wanted to convey: functionalism (basic materials put to good use) and a desire to appear progressive (the elaborate structures trying to demonstrate the regime’s awareness of contemporary design trends). There is certain sentimentality about them. They stand as a testament to all the past generations that daily relied on their shelter. When these bus stops are inevitably torn down and replaced by modern versions, one part of the country’s social history will be lost forever.
